A coastal kitchen shaped by the ocean
Saga began as a simple idea: a place where meals follow the rhythm of the coast. Where the catch arrives from nearby fishermen, coffee is brewed slowly, and mornings start without rush. Built from natural materials and open to the sea air, Saga is a space to gather, to linger, to let the afternoon stretch. It is not a fine-dining destination — it is an honest kitchen rooted in the flavours of coastal Bali.
Saga is open to outside guests as well as those staying at VELA. Reserve a table via WhatsApp; walk-ins are welcome when space allows. Mornings are quiet, evenings fill quickly.
From the ocean
The freshest meal on the menu begins before sunrise. Local fishermen head out past the reef, and what they bring back shapes the evening plate. You can join the catch — or simply enjoy the result. Either way the fish arrives within hours, prepared simply over open flame with sambal matah and coastal greens.
The coffee bar
Specialty beans sourced from the highlands of East Java and roasted locally. Each cup brewed with care — a slow pour-over to start the morning or a quick espresso before the coast. The bar is open all day: come early for quiet mornings, stay for afternoon cold brews.
The atmosphere
Tables set under alang-alang, open to the ocean breeze.
The rhythm of the waves as your backdrop.
Wood, stone and earth — honest and warm.
Shoes off, feet in the sand, no formality.
