• Eleven canvas lodges in the garden behind our restaurant Saga, under the palms.
• The sea is a few steps across the garden. The shore is coarse, dark pebbles, not sand.
• Four kinds of lodge:
  • Bayu: 6 lodges, 35 m2, king bed, full canvas.
  • Arta: 2 lodges, 55 m2, sleeps up to four (a king bed and two single beds).
  • Segara: 2 lodges, 38 m2, glass door.
  • Candra: 1 lodge, 32 m2, round, windows all round.
• Every lodge has a private bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, wifi, coffee and tea, a desk, a private terrace and beach towels. Materials are canvas, bamboo, stone and reclaimed wood.
• Wifi is reliable and reaches every lodge.
• We host 26 guests at most.

• Saga Coffee & Coastal Kitchen: Indonesian and seafood, open-air under thatch, with a large deck by the sea.
• Breakfast 07:30 to 10:30, kitchen 12:00 to 21:00, coffee all day. Walk-in, no reservation needed.
• Open to anyone on this coast, staying with us or not.
• Beans come from the East Java highlands and are roasted locally.
• The boats land on the shore most mornings, when the sea allows, and Saga cooks what comes in. Some mornings the catch is smaller, and the kitchen says so.
• Catch of the day is on the menu.

• Tianyar Barat is a fishing village first and a place to stay second.
• Most mornings the fishing boats leave before dawn.
• No loungers in rows, no beach bar, no nightlife on this coast.
• Catch & Cook: a boat with a local fisherman at 06:00, two to three hours, with a breakfast box and water. Two guests are included and the boat seats four. Your catch is cooked at Saga that evening. It runs when the sea allows.
• A jukung trip with local fishermen: on request, ask the concierge.
• Massage: on request.

• Pool, sundeck under thatch, a lawn for yoga, a covered space for rain, the large deck at Saga by the sea.

• Check-in from 14:00, check-out 11:00. No minimum stay.
• Children are welcome. VELA is not a children's hotel.
• Lodge rates include tax and there is no service charge. Prices differ by date, so please check the website instead of quoting a figure.
• Breakfast is not included in the lodge rate. It is an add-on, IDR 150.000 per person.
• Bookings start as a request. Nothing is booked until a person has written back.
• Divers: we have no dive centre. The concierge can put you in touch with a dive operator we work with. Kit is rinsed at the showers by the pool and the team helps. Guests leaving before the kitchen opens can ask Saga for a breakfast box.

• Tulamben (USAT Liberty wreck): 15 minutes.
• Amed: 40 minutes.
• Tirta Gangga: 1 hour.
• Ubud: 2 hours.
• Canggu or Seminyak: 2.5 hours.
• Airport (DPS): about 3 hours along the east and north coast.
• Private transfer: an air-conditioned car with a named driver, per car up to four guests, late flights tracked. Ask the concierge. There is no Grab or Gojek on this coast.

Please do not write any of these. They would be wrong.

• No sea view from the lodges. (Saga and the deck are by the sea.)
• No sand beach: pebbles.
• No spa building, no gym, no kids club, no dive centre, no beach bar.
