Best Time to Visit North Bali

North Bali enjoys warm weather year-round, but there are differences between the seasons that may affect your plans. Here is a simple, honest guide to help you choose when to visit.

Dry season: April to October

The dry season is the most popular time to visit. Rainfall is low, skies are clear, and the ocean is calm. Temperatures along the coast sit between 27 and 32 degrees celsius. Visibility for diving and snorkelling is typically at its best. The roads are dry and easy to travel. Sunsets are long and uninterrupted. This is ideal for beach stays, diving, road trips along the coast, and outdoor activities.

Wet season: November to March

The wet season brings short, heavy rain showers, usually in the afternoon or evening. Mornings are often still sunny. The landscape turns greener, and there are fewer visitors everywhere. Diving is still possible, though visibility can vary. The air is warmer and more humid. North Bali generally receives less rainfall than the south and the mountains, making the coast a good option even in the wetter months.

Shoulder months: April, May, September, October

The transition months between wet and dry seasons are often the quietest. The weather is good, prices tend to be lower, and popular areas like Amed, Tulamben and Lovina are less crowded. These months suit travellers who want good conditions without the peak-season atmosphere.

North Bali feels quieter year-round

One of the main advantages of the north coast is that it remains less visited than the south regardless of season. Even in July and August, the peak months for Bali tourism, the north-east coast around Tianyar, Tulamben and Amed feels calm compared to Canggu, Seminyak or Uluwatu. If you are coming to North Bali for quiet and nature, the season matters less than you might expect.

Tips by activity

For diving and snorkelling, April to November offers the clearest water. For photography and landscapes, dry season mornings give the best light on Mount Agung. For road trips along the coast, any time outside heavy rain is comfortable. For the quietest atmosphere with the fewest visitors, April, May, September and October are ideal. For sunrises behind Mount Agung, the dry months give the clearest skies.
